BECOME PART OF SOMETHING SPECIAL AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN A YOUNG PUPIL'S LIFE!

After a hugely successful run this year we are looking forward to going even bigger and better in our next round, and we want YOU to be part of our journey!

The Primary Inspiration through Enterprise (PIE) Project invites schools from across the North East to take part in a nationally acclaimed enterprise challenge, which assists children in developing key life skills and business acumen from the youngest of ages.

The Big PIE Challenge is the charity’s annual challenge, now running into it’s fourth successful year. The Challenge brings together thousands of children from across the region to take part in a series of enterprise activities which include engineering, computer coding and running a business. In a first for the North East, children can also achieve the vocational NCFE qualification, which is aligned to Gatsby benchmarks.

WE NEED DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS LIKE YOU TO HELP PRIMARY SCHOOLS ACROSS THE NORTH EAST ASSIST PUPILS WITH THE BIG PIE CHALLENGE!

Our Mission

The PIE Project aims to provide young people with all the necessary information, guidance and support to help realise ambitions and raise aspirations.

The ambition of the PIE Project is to provide a holistic approach to enterprise education that links businesses to primary, secondary, further and higher education.
The project provides a seamless and integrated approach to career advice and guidance using Gatsby Benchmarks and linking to Enterprise Advisors that ultimately enhances life choices and improves life chances for everyone.
The Big PIE Challenge comprises two stages:

Stage 1: Engineering and Coding STEM activities – Pupils make a foam aeroplane and try to throw it as far as they can, and then engage in programming and coding activities. Schools which score the highest will qualify for Stage 2.

Stage 2: Enterprise - The schools will each be loaned £100 from the PIE Project to design, market and sell their own product, with the following prizes up for grabs:

1st Prize - £5000

2nd Prize - £500

3rd Prize - £250

The age range for participating pupils is years 5 and 6.

The school and PIE’oneers will be sent a participation pack and be fully briefed prior to the 19th October.
